The serial number on the case matches that of the microscope. The included wood box is in fair condition, the main problem being the disintigration of the leather ( or leather-like) fabric that covers the wood.
I did not attempt to magnify with this microscope. See images for further condition information. I did not clean any part of this item- the scope is as found. The mirror has some small patches of rust on the flat side. There is some light paint wear, and a few spots of light corrosion on the base.
The brass finish has deteroriated as the photos indicate. The microscope is in decent cosmetic condition overall. Two pairs of Leitz eyepieces are included- they are 6x and 10x.
There is also a cylinder for oil that has a glass lining and stopper. The microscope has 3 brass objective lenses: Leitz 1.30 100x oil immersion 1/12 (serial #139464) Leitz 3S 10x Leitz 6L 45X All three objective lenses come with a metal storage cylinder. This Leitz microscope has serial number 270652 which dates it to 1929 according to this site.
